Russia’s ‘Ragnarok’ Fiber-Optic Drone Can Fly 50 km with Jam-Proof Communication

Alkor Tactical has introduced Russia’s Ragnarok fiber-optic drone capable of flying up to 50 km with a stable, jam-resistant connection. The drone lineup includes hexacopters and advanced radio-controlled systems.

Alkor Tactical has unveiled a new generation of fiber-optic-controlled drones capable of operating at ranges of up to 50 km.

A company representative presented the development at the Nevsky Friends of Russia Forum. According to him, this range is considered optimal because increasing the cable length makes the coil significantly heavier, which limits the drone’s payload capacity.

The drone family is called “Ragnarok.” The lineup includes several types of aircraft, including hexacopters and 15-inch drones. The use of fiber-optic cables ensures a stable and interference-free connection with the operator.

In addition, Alkor Tactical also produces radio-controlled drones with ground control stations. These drones feature a redundant communication system, with two control frequencies and two video transmission frequencies for each drone. If one channel is jammed by electronic warfare systems, the drone automatically switches to the backup channel, allowing it to continue its mission.
