Researchers in China have developed a new semi-solid-state battery for electric vehicles that could significantly extend driving range. The new technology reportedly enables more than 1,000 km of range on a single charge, marking a major advancement in EV battery development.

The battery combines solid and liquid electrolytes along with a lithium-manganese cathode, increasing its energy density by about 30% compared with conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Hybrid Electrolyte Design Improves Efficiency and Safety

The battery uses an advanced hybrid structure featuring a super-wetting composite electrolyte. This electrolyte is capable of fully penetrating the microscopic pores within the battery materials.
