VinFast Offers Free EV Charging Till 2029 in India, Indonesia & Philippines

VinFast Extends Free Charging Program to 2029 to Boost EV Adoption

VinFast has announced a major extension of its free charging program for electric vehicle (EV) owners across key international markets, including India, Indonesia, and Philippines. Under this updated policy, customers will be able to charge their VinFast EVs free of cost until March 31, 2029.

This move is aimed at encouraging faster adoption of electric mobility while reducing the overall cost of ownership for EV buyers. With rising fuel prices and growing environmental concerns, such initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in accelerating the shift toward cleaner transportation.

Free Charging Extended Till 2029

VinFast’s free charging program was initially introduced as part of its strategy to attract early adopters of electric vehicles. Following a strong response from customers in both domestic and international markets, the company has now decided to extend the offer for an additional three years.

With this extension, all VinFast EV owners in the mentioned countries will continue to enjoy free charging benefits until March 31, 2029. This applies to both existing customers and new buyers, making it one of the most attractive EV ownership benefits currently available.

The company believes that eliminating charging costs can significantly improve customer confidence and make EV ownership more appealing, especially in emerging markets.

Charging Network Powered by V-Green

The free charging service will be provided through the charging infrastructure developed and operated by V-Green. This network ensures that VinFast customers have access to reliable and widespread charging facilities.

By expanding its charging ecosystem, VinFast aims to address one of the biggest concerns associated with EV adoption—charging availability. A strong and accessible charging network is essential for building trust among customers and encouraging them to switch from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

Benefits for Individual and Commercial Users

One of the key highlights of this initiative is that it is not limited to private vehicle owners. The free charging policy also extends to commercial users, including drivers operating on ride-hailing platforms.

For example, drivers associated with Green SM, a ride-hailing service that uses VinFast EVs, will also benefit from the free charging program. This is particularly important for commercial users, as fuel or charging costs form a significant part of their daily expenses.

By reducing these costs, VinFast is making electric vehicles a more viable and profitable option for drivers and fleet operators.

Trade Gas for Electric’ Program Introduced

In addition to the free charging extension, VinFast’s parent company, Vingroup, has launched a new initiative called “Trade Gas for Electric.”

This program is designed to encourage customers to switch from petrol-powered vehicles to electric alternatives. Under this limited-time offer, buyers who exchange their old petrol vehicles for VinFast EVs can avail additional discounts.

The benefits include:

  • 3% extra discount on VinFast electric cars

  • 5% extra discount on VinFast electric scooters

This offer is valid from March 11 to March 31 and is available across India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Such incentives make it easier for customers to transition to electric mobility by lowering the initial purchase cost.

Strong Customer Response So Far

According to Duong Thi Thu Trang, the company’s earlier free charging policy received a highly positive response from customers in Vietnam as well as other international markets.

She stated that the decision to extend the policy is part of VinFast’s broader strategy to accelerate EV adoption globally. The company aims to remove barriers that prevent customers from switching to electric vehicles.

Trang also emphasized that when the cost of driving an EV becomes nearly zero, it significantly boosts customer interest and confidence in green mobility solutions.

Boosting EV Adoption in Emerging Markets

VinFast’s initiative is particularly important for emerging markets like India, Indonesia, and the Philippines, where EV adoption is still in the early stages.

In these regions, high upfront costs and concerns about charging infrastructure often discourage buyers from choosing electric vehicles. By offering free charging and additional discounts, VinFast is directly addressing these challenges.

The company’s strategy aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation. Governments in these countries are also supporting EV adoption through various policies and incentives.

Lower Cost of Ownership a Key Advantage

One of the biggest advantages of electric vehicles is their lower running cost compared to petrol or diesel vehicles. With VinFast’s free charging program, this cost advantage becomes even more significant.

Customers can potentially save a substantial amount on fuel expenses over the years, making EVs a more economical choice in the long run. This is especially beneficial for daily commuters and commercial users who rely heavily on their vehicles.

VinFast’s decision to extend its free charging program till 2029, along with the introduction of the “Trade Gas for Electric” initiative, highlights the company’s strong commitment to promoting electric mobility.

By reducing both the initial purchase cost and ongoing running expenses, VinFast is making EV ownership more accessible and attractive. As competition in the EV market continues to grow, such customer-focused strategies could give the company a significant edge.

With increasing awareness, better infrastructure, and supportive policies, the future of electric vehicles in markets like India looks promising—and initiatives like these are likely to play a key role in driving that transformation.
