Tesla Model 3 Completes US Trip on Autopilot Without Driver Intervention

Tesla Model 3 completes long-distance drive using FSD system. Explore performance, real-world tests, and upcoming software update.

Tesla Autopilot Cross-Country Drive: Electric vehicle giant Tesla has showcased the real-world capabilities of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) (Supervised) system through an impressive cross-country journey in the United States.

Tesla owner David Moss completed one of the first confirmed long-distance drives across the country without any manual intervention. Starting from California and ending in South Carolina, his Tesla Model 3 successfully navigated highways, road signs, turns, and even stops at Supercharger stations.

The journey covered over 2,700 miles (around 4,300 km) in just two days and 20 hours, demonstrating the system’s reliability and ease of use. This trip was part of a broader series of FSD-powered drives, which together have exceeded 12,000 miles, further validating Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance technology.

Tesla’s FSD system, while highly advanced, is still classified as a supervised driving system, meaning a driver must remain present and ready to take control if needed. Despite this, the system handled the entire journey seamlessly.

Meanwhile, discussions on social media have highlighted another interesting moment involving Tesla’s FSD version 14.2.2.5. In a real-world scenario, a Tesla vehicle automatically reversed at an intersection to make space for a truck taking a wide turn—showcasing adaptive decision-making in complex traffic conditions.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk also confirmed that the company is internally testing FSD version 14.3. He stated that a wider rollout is expected “within a few weeks,” likely by the end of April, signaling continuous improvements in autonomous driving technology.

Overall, Tesla’s latest demonstration highlights the rapid evolution of self-driving systems and their growing potential to transform the future of mobility.
