Lada Azimut Hybrid Crossover to Offer Powerful Performance and Long Range

Lada Azimut Hybrid SUV – AvtoVAZ is working on a plug-in hybrid version of its upcoming Lada Azimut crossover, aiming to deliver strong performance and impressive efficiency. According to company President Maxim Sokolov, the first prototype of the hybrid model is expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of 2026.

The company confirmed that its engineers are actively developing the plug-in hybrid system based on the new Azimut platform. A pilot version of the hybrid crossover is scheduled to be ready later this year, marking a significant step in Lada’s electrification strategy.

The upcoming Lada Azimut hybrid is expected to feature an all-wheel-drive system paired with a 290 kW (approximately 390 hp) powertrain. This setup could enable the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, placing it among the more performance-oriented models in its segment.

One of the biggest highlights of the hybrid Azimut is its claimed driving range of up to 1,100 km, combining fuel efficiency with extended usability for long-distance travel. This makes it a strong contender in the growing hybrid SUV market.

Meanwhile, the standard gasoline-powered Lada Azimut crossover is set to enter serial production between summer and fall of 2026, with market sales expected to begin by the end of the year. Built on the Vesta platform, the SUV will initially be offered with 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter petrol engines producing between 120 hp and 132 hp. Buyers will have the option of a CVT or manual transmission.

At a later stage, AvtoVAZ also plans to introduce a more powerful 150 hp turbocharged engine, further expanding the Azimut lineup.

With the addition of a high-performance plug-in hybrid variant, the Lada Azimut is shaping up to be a key model in the brand’s future portfolio, combining power, efficiency, and modern technology.
