Mercedes-Benz G-Class EV Recall Notice: Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for its electric G-Class G580 in the United States due to loose wheel bolts. The company identified that the bolts could loosen over time, posing a potential safety risk.
Luxury cars are expected to deliver top-tier performance, safety, and build quality. However, an unexpected issue has emerged in the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology, also known as the G-Wagon. Despite its rugged design and premium comfort, this issue has led to a recall of over 3,700 vehicles in the US.
More Than 3,700 Vehicles Recalled
The electric G-Class G580 is known for its strong performance and off-road capabilities. It is designed to handle rough terrain, sandy surfaces, and even water crossings with ease. However, a serious safety concern has been identified, prompting the recall of 3,734 units sold in the US.
The issue involves wheel bolts that may loosen over time, increasing the risk of wheel detachment in extreme cases.

Affected Models
The recall applies only to electric G-Class G580 models manufactured between February 2024 and August 2025. According to the company, prolonged use or certain driving conditions could cause the bolts to loosen.
What Went Wrong?
Mercedes-Benz has acknowledged that it underestimated the increased weight and torque of the electric G-Class. The company used the same wheel bolts that were previously fitted to the petrol-powered G-Class models.
Since the electric version is significantly heavier and delivers higher torque, the existing bolts may not be strong enough to handle the additional stress. This issue is more likely to occur when the vehicle is driven on extremely rough terrain or when wheels are frequently replaced.
Company Statement
Mercedes-Benz has stated that the issue is unlikely to occur during normal city driving conditions. So far, no accidents or injuries have been reported.
As a precautionary measure, the company will replace the affected wheel bolts with newly designed, stronger components free of charge.
What Should Customers Do?
Owners of affected vehicles do not need to worry but are advised to schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer. Technicians will inspect the vehicle and replace the existing bolts with improved versions at no cost to the customer.
