Cupra Raval EV Explained: Cupra, a subsidiary of SEAT under the Volkswagen Group, is preparing to launch its new electric hatchback, the Cupra Raval. It shares its platform with upcoming models like the Volkswagen ID. Polo and Skoda Epiq, all based on the MEB+ front-wheel-drive architecture.

Volkswagen Group is positioning each model differently to avoid internal competition. While the ID. Polo focuses on efficiency and practicality, and the Epiq emphasizes space and SUV appeal, the Raval targets buyers looking for a sporty and emotional driving experience.

Sporty Design and Aggressive Styling

The Cupra Raval stands out with a bold and aggressive design. It features a sharp front fascia with a “shark nose” look, sleek LED lighting, and signature illuminated logos.

Design highlights include:

  • Angular body lines and sporty stance

  • Illuminated front and rear light signatures

  • Dual-tone paint options and matte finishes

  • Prominent rear diffuser for a sporty appeal

However, the use of flush (retractable) door handles has raised concerns, as they are sometimes considered less practical and potentially unsafe compared to traditional handles.

Modern Interior and Tech Features

Inside, the Raval offers a modern yet user-friendly cabin. Unlike many EVs, it balances digital controls with physical buttons for better usability.

Key interior features:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster

  • 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • New Android-based OS with app support (Spotify, YouTube)

  • Ambient lighting with dynamic effects

  • Floating center console for extra storage

  • Optional 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system (475W)

Sustainable materials are also used in the seats, reflecting a focus on eco-friendly design.

Size and Practicality

At 4.05 meters in length, the Raval is compact and similar in size to the ID. Polo. However, the Skoda Epiq (4.10 meters) offers better practicality and a larger boot.

  • Boot space: 430 litres (Raval)

  • Boot space: 475 litres (Epiq)

Performance and Driving Dynamics

The Raval is tuned for sporty driving. Compared to its siblings, it has:

  • 15 mm lower ride height

  • Wider track for better stability

  • Adaptive DCC suspension with multiple modes

The top-spec VZ variant adds:

  • Sportier chassis setup

  • ESC-off mode

  • 19-inch wheels

  • Electronic limited-slip differential for better cornering

Battery, Power and Range

The Raval will be offered in four variants:

  • Base: 116 hp, 37 kWh battery (≈300 km range)

  • Raval Plus: 135 hp, same battery (≈300 km range)

  • Endurance: 211 hp, 52 kWh battery (≈450 km range)

  • VZ (Top Model): 226 hp, 52 kWh battery (≈400 km range)

The new-generation battery uses cell-to-pack technology for improved efficiency and reduced weight.

Charging details:

  • 10–80% in 27 minutes (37 kWh battery, 90 kW DC)

  • 10–80% in 23 minutes (52 kWh battery, 130 kW DC)

Launch and Price

The Cupra Raval is expected to launch in June, with base variants priced at around €26,000. Entry-level versions may arrive slightly later.
