The Tata Sierra EV is set to arrive in the Indian market as a powerful electric SUV. This upcoming model will be based on Tata’s Acti.ev+ platform and is expected to feature a battery pack of approximately 55–65 kWh. Let’s take a closer look.
Tata Motors has already established a strong foothold in the Indian automotive market and is now preparing to launch its new electric SUV, the Tata Sierra EV. The company has indicated that the SUV could reach showrooms in the first quarter of FY2027, which means a launch timeline between April and June 2026. The vehicle has also been spotted testing multiple times, generating significant interest among buyers.
The Tata Sierra EV will be built on the company’s new Acti.ev+ platform, which is specifically designed for electric vehicles and supports multiple battery and drivetrain configurations. It is expected that this SUV will share several components with the Tata Harrier EV, enhancing both performance and reliability. In terms of positioning, the Sierra EV is likely to sit below the Harrier EV in Tata’s EV lineup, making it a premium midsize electric SUV.
Battery, Range, and Performance
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to offer two battery options. One could be around 55 kWh, similar to the unit expected in the Tata Curvv EV, while the larger 65 kWh battery could be shared with the Harrier EV.
With the bigger battery pack, the SUV could deliver a driving range of over 500 km, making it suitable for long-distance travel. Fast-charging capability is also expected, allowing quicker battery top-ups. Additionally, features like V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) could be offered, enabling users to power external devices using the car’s battery.
The Sierra EV may be available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations, with the dual-motor variant offering all-wheel-drive capability for improved performance and traction.
Design and Features
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to feature a distinctive design that blends retro elements from the original Sierra with modern styling cues. Key highlights may include a closed front grille, sleek LED lighting, split headlamps, and a connected rear light bar. Flush door handles and large alloy wheels are also expected to enhance its premium appeal.
Inside, the SUV could offer a modern and tech-loaded cabin with a three-screen setup, including a digital driver display, a large infotainment touchscreen, and an additional passenger display. Other expected features include a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The starting price of the Tata Sierra EV is expected to be around ₹18 lakh, making it a competitive offering in the premium midsize electric SUV segment.
