The Kia EV2 electric crossover has turned out to be more affordable than expected.
Kia has officially opened orders for the EV2 electric crossover in Europe, and the pricing has come as a pleasant surprise. At a time when most vehicles are becoming more expensive, the South Korean automaker has managed to price the EV2 lower than anticipated.
The model is built on Kia’s E-GMP platform but uses a 400-volt architecture to keep costs in check. It will be offered with two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack with a range of up to 317 km, and a larger 61 kWh battery offering up to 453 km of range.
The EV2 supports 118 kW fast charging, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
Inside, the EV2 borrows several premium features from Kia’s higher-end models. It comes equipped with a dual 12.3-inch display setup along with a separate touchscreen panel for climate controls.
The standard equipment includes the new Lite infotainment system, which supports smartphone-based navigation. Despite its compact size, the EV2 offers best-in-class rear legroom and a 403-litre boot, making it highly practical for everyday use.
In Germany, the base variant is priced at €26,600, which is significantly lower than the earlier expected price of €30,000. Deliveries to customers are scheduled to begin in May this year.
