Hyundai Creta Rivals Incoming: Nissan Tekton, Scorpio-N Facelift & New Renault Duster to Shake Up SUV Segment

Several new SUVs including Nissan Tekton, Skoda Kushaq facelift, Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift and Renault Duster are set to challenge Hyundai Creta in India. Check expected features and details.

The Hyundai Creta is currently one of the best-selling SUVs in its segment. However, the competition is set to intensify this year as several new SUVs are preparing to enter the market with the potential to challenge the Creta strongly.

The company is aware of the growing competition and is reportedly working on the next-generation Creta, which could arrive by the end of this year or early 2027. But if you cannot wait for the new Creta, several upcoming SUVs this year may directly rival the current model. Key contenders include the Skoda Kushaq facelift, new Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift and Nissan Tekton.

Nissan Tekton

After Renault, Nissan is also preparing its own version of the Duster for the Indian market, likely to be called the Nissan Tekton. The SUV’s exterior is expected to draw inspiration from the Nissan Patrol.

The Tekton could launch in the coming months and will be based on the same platform as the Duster, meaning it will likely share many of its features.

Expected engine options:

  • 1.0-litre turbo petrol

  • 1.3-litre turbo petrol

  • 1.8-litre hybrid

Skoda Kushaq Facelift

Skoda Auto has reportedly begun production of the Kushaq facelift, and the updated SUV is expected to reach dealerships soon.

Expected updates include:

  • New front grille and headlamps

  • Revised front bumper

  • New alloy wheels

  • Connected LED tail lamps

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Rear seat massage function

On the powertrain front:

  • 1.0 TSI engine with new 8-speed automatic

  • 6-speed manual continues

  • 1.5 TSI now paired with 7-speed DSG

Skoda is also expected to offer several safety and comfort features as standard.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift

The Mahindra & Mahindra Scorpio-N is also set to receive an update soon. The facelift version has already been spotted testing and could launch in the near future.

Expected changes:

  • New front grille and bumper

  • Larger touchscreen

  • Panoramic sunroof

Engine options likely to continue:

  • 2.0-litre turbo petrol

  • 2.2-litre turbo diesel

Both manual and automatic transmission options are expected.

Renault Duster (New Gen)

The Renault Duster is making a strong comeback in the Indian market and has already started reaching dealerships.
