Geely i-HEV Hybrid Sets Guinness Record with 45 km/l Efficiency – Toyota Challenged

Geely’s AI Hybrid Technology Explained: 45 km/l Mileage & Smart Driving Features. Geely vs Toyota: New i-HEV Hybrid Breaks Record with 2.22 L/100 km Efficiency. AI-Powered Hybrid Revolution: Geely i-HEV Achieves Record Mileage.

Geely Auto Introduces AI-Based i-HEV Hybrid Technology, Sets Guinness Record

Geely Auto has made headlines in the global auto industry with its new AI-powered i-HEV hybrid technology. The company has set a Guinness World Records benchmark by achieving an impressive fuel efficiency of 2.22 L/100 km (approximately 45.05 km/l) in a highway test.

This breakthrough positions Geely as a strong challenger to established hybrid leaders like Toyota.

AI-Powered Hybrid Technology

Geely’s i-HEV system uses an advanced AI-driven energy management platform that analyzes real-time environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and altitude.

This intelligent system continuously optimizes the balance between the petrol engine and electric motor, ensuring that the engine operates at peak efficiency at all times.

The company claims this is the world’s first hybrid system powered by AI Cloud Power technology, marking a significant leap in hybrid innovation.

Record-Breaking Performance

The record-setting test was conducted using the Geely Emgrand on Hainan Island, China.

  • Fuel efficiency: 2.22 L/100 km (~45.05 km/l)
  • Certified by Guinness World Records
  • Achieved under real-world highway conditions

This efficiency is significantly higher than that of most conventional hybrid vehicles currently available in the market.

Technical Specifications

The i-HEV system combines a petrol engine with a powerful electric drive:

  • Engine: 1.5-litre petrol
  • Thermal efficiency: 48.4% (industry-leading)
  • Electric motor power: 230 kW (313 PS)
  • Acceleration (0–30 km/h): 1.84 seconds

The system ensures smooth low-speed driving in city conditions and efficient energy recovery during braking.

Challenge to Hybrid Leaders

Geely’s latest innovation directly challenges the long-standing dominance of Japanese automakers like Toyota in the hybrid segment.

Unlike traditional hybrid systems, the i-HEV integrates:

  • Intelligent driving systems
  • Smart cockpit features
  • Chassis control

All these are managed through a centralized AI computing platform, offering a level of intelligence not commonly seen in current hybrid models.

Future Plans

Geely plans to roll out the i-HEV technology across multiple models, including:

  • Geely Preface
  • Geely Monjaro
  • Geely Starray
  • Geely Emgrand

This move is expected to strengthen the company’s global presence, especially in markets demanding fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles.
