Mitsubishi Motors Registers Four Key Auto Trademarks in Russia Until 2035

Mitsubishi Motors secures ASX, AWC, DI-D and Eclipse trademarks in Russia under Class 12, keeping brand protection in place despite halted local production.

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors has registered four important automotive trademarks in Russia, reinforcing its intellectual property protection in the market.

Which trademarks were registered

The newly registered marks include:

  • ASX

  • AWC

  • DI-D

  • Eclipse

Trademark applications were filed in April 2025 and officially registered between January and February 2026. The exclusive rights for these trademarks will remain valid until April 4, 2035.

Coverage under international classification

According to Rospatent, the trademarks are registered under Class 12 of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS). This category covers:

  • Automobiles

  • Vehicle parts

  • Automotive accessories

The registration allows the rights holder to legally protect its products from counterfeiting and unauthorized third-party use.

Background: production remains suspended

It is worth noting that Mitsubishi Motors suspended vehicle production at its Kaluga plant in April 2022. Despite the halt in local manufacturing, the company continues to maintain legal protection for its brand assets in Russia.

Earlier, Rospatent chief Yuri Zubov stated that many foreign companies are still registering and renewing trademarks in Russia to safeguard them against illegal use and counterfeit activity.
