Geely Announces Eva Cab Robotaxi with AI Driver
Geely unveiled a prototype of the Eva Cab, its first robotaxi. One of the vehicle’s key features is its custom Step 3.5 AI model, which includes 196 billion parameters and is designed to ensure highly accurate autonomous driving.
According to the developers, the new platform delivers computing power of up to 1,400 TOPS, enabling real-time data processing and rapid decision-making. Geely claims its AI can react three times faster than a human driver and that the Eva Cab can handle 99% of everyday driving situations.
The World Action Model (WAM) computational model implements the entire process—from situational perception to decision-making—as a continuous, closed-loop architecture. As a result, the Eva Cab simulates the behavior of an experienced driver even in challenging road conditions.
Geely equipped its prototype with a comprehensive sensor suite comprising 43 components, including LiDAR modules and high-resolution cameras. These create a 360-degree field of view with no blind spots and maintain constant awareness of the surrounding environment, monitoring other vehicles, pedestrians, and unexpected obstacles.
During internal testing, the robotaxi demonstrated its precision and reliability in challenging urban conditions. For example, the Eva Cab handled U-shaped maneuvers with 95% accuracy.
Another key element of the Eva Cab is its AI-enabled digital chassis control system, designed to respond in just 4 milliseconds. Geely explains that this helps prevent risks in extreme driving conditions, allowing the car to maintain stability and control.
Mass production of the model and the start of commercial operations for the Eva Cab are planned for 2027. The price of the vehicle has not yet been announced.
