Popular BYD models will receive ultra-fast charging. BYD has begun implementing ultra-fast charging technology in its most popular electric vehicles. Previously, the technology was only available in high-end models, but it will now be introduced in mainstream models.
The BYD Yuan Plus crossover, known outside of China as the BYD Atto 3, will be the first to receive the update. A fast-charging system with a capacity of up to 1500 kW allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. The battery can reach 97% charge in 9 minutes. Even at -30°C, the process takes about 12 minutes.
The new-generation Yuan Plus will receive 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh batteries, offering a range of 540 km and 630 km, respectively, according to the CLTC cycle.
The updated Yuan Plus dimensions have increased to 4665 x 1895 x 1675 mm, with a wheelbase of 2770 mm. Versions with 268 hp and 322 hp will be available.
The new model will debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24. The company hopes to recapture buyer interest with faster charging and increased range. According to available information, 223,906 units of the Yuan Plus series had already been sold by 2025.
