Range Rover Velar EV Spotted Testing: Up to 720 km Range, Futuristic Design Revealed

The all-electric Range Rover Velar EV has been spotted testing. Expected range up to 720 km, EMA platform, and 800V fast charging — check full details.

Range Rover’s ‘silent’ power spotted on the roads! 720 km range on a full charge; leaked photos impress

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is preparing to make its popular luxury SUV, the Range Rover Velar, fully electric. This upcoming electric version — the Velar EV — has recently been spotted testing on public roads.

JLR aims to have at least one battery electric vehicle (BEV) in each of its brands by the end of this decade, and the Velar EV is expected to play a key role in this strategy. Currently, the Velar is available with petrol and diesel hybrid powertrains, but its ‘silent’ electric avatar is now gearing up to grab attention.

Futuristic Look Grabs Attention

The leaked images reveal a striking futuristic design. The front wheels appear to be pushed far forward, giving the SUV a very aggressive and planted stance.

One major benefit of this design is improved cabin space. The SUV features a ‘clamshell’ bonnet and a straight-nosed front fascia. Although the test mule remains heavily camouflaged, it is expected to come with premium elements such as:

  • Modern wraparound headlights

  • Flush door handles

  • Clean, aerodynamic surfacing

Sporty Side Profile

From the side, the sloping roofline and large alloy wheels give the Velar EV a sporty character. At the rear, it features a split roof spoiler and a flat boot lid, which should help improve high-speed aerodynamics.

Reports suggest the SUV may get connected tail lamps with “Range Rover” lettering prominently placed in the center. Special EV badging is also expected on the exterior to distinguish it from the ICE version.

Range Could Reach Up to 720 km

The Velar EV is expected to set new benchmarks in performance and efficiency. It will be built on JLR’s latest Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform.

Expected key specs:

  • Battery pack: 80 kWh to 100 kWh

  • Claimed range: 500 km to 720 km

  • Advanced 800V electrical architecture

Thanks to the 800V system, the SUV is likely to support ultra-fast charging while also improving battery efficiency and power management.

What It Means for Buyers

If the reported specifications hold true, the electric Velar could become one of the longest-range luxury electric SUVs in its segment. With JLR aggressively expanding its EV portfolio, the Velar EV is shaping up to be a crucial product for the brand’s electric future.
