Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo Revealed: Digital Hypercar Set to Debut in Gran Turismo 7

Xiaomi unveils the Vision Gran Turismo digital hypercar ahead of MWC 2026. The futuristic EV concept features advanced aerodynamics, smart tech, and will debut in Gran Turismo 7.

Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo: Tech Giant Enters the Virtual Racing Arena

After making waves in the electric vehicle space, Xiaomi is now accelerating into the world of virtual motorsport. The company has officially introduced the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, a futuristic digital hypercar developed exclusively for the popular racing title Gran Turismo 7. With this move, Xiaomi becomes the first pure technology brand to join the prestigious Vision Gran Turismo program.

The concept was showcased in Barcelona ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, signaling Xiaomi’s growing ambitions beyond smartphones and consumer electronics.

Sculpted by the Wind: A Design Built for Speed

Creating a virtual race car might sound straightforward, but Xiaomi approached the Vision GT with the same rigor as a real-world engineering project. The design team, led by Tianyuan Li, followed a “sculpted by the wind” philosophy.

From a top view, the hypercar resembles a teardrop, with a tightly packaged cockpit surrounded by aggressive air ducts and aerodynamic cutouts. These elements are not just for show—they help the car slice through the air efficiently while maintaining strong downforce for high-speed cornering.

Spy images from Barcelona reveal an extremely low-slung stance, hinting at a central-cockpit layout. Visible features include carbon-fibre side skirts, a prominent rear spoiler, and Xiaomi branding on the wheel faces. A shark-fin element spotted on the roofline—commonly used in WEC Hypercars for stability—has appeared in some sightings but remains unconfirmed until the official reveal.

Impressive Aerodynamics and Advanced Airflow Tech

Xiaomi has shared several technical highlights that underline the car’s performance-focused design. After extensive computer simulations, the Vision GT achieved:

  • Drag coefficient: 0.29

  • Downforce: –1.2

  • Aerodynamic efficiency: 4.1

In simple terms, the car is engineered to be both slippery on straights and planted in corners.

One of the standout innovations is the Active Wake Control System, working alongside specially designed “Accretion Rims” to manage airflow around the wheels. Even the halo-shaped taillights serve a functional role, acting as a large air outlet to improve cooling and stability.

Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo series, reportedly praised the concept as a modern benchmark for digital performance cars.

‘Sofa Racer’ Cabin Blends Comfort with Smart Tech

Inside, Xiaomi has taken a radically different approach compared to traditional race cars. The company calls the interior concept the “Sofa Racer.”

Instead of a stripped-out racing cockpit, the dashboard, doors, and seats flow together in a continuous loop, creating a cocoon-like lounge environment. The cabin is deeply integrated with Xiaomi’s Human × Car × Home ecosystem, highlighting the brand’s software-first philosophy.

A new feature called Xiaomi Pulse adds an emotional layer to the driving experience. Using coordinated lighting and sound, the system can sense the driver’s mood and adjust the cabin atmosphere accordingly, effectively turning the car into an interactive digital companion.

Built on Momentum from the SU7 Ultra

The Vision GT project builds on the momentum of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which recently grabbed headlines with strong track performance at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi previously test-drove the SU7 Ultra at multiple circuits, including Beijing and Tsukuba, paving the way for deeper collaboration between Xiaomi and the game’s developer, Polyphony Digital.

By placing the Vision Gran Turismo in a game played by millions worldwide, Xiaomi is positioning itself alongside legendary performance brands such as Ferrari and Porsche—despite entering the automotive world only recently.

What to Expect Next

Full technical specifications of the digital hypercar are expected to be revealed around MWC Barcelona 2026 (March 2–5). While the Vision GT is not intended for production, the aerodynamic learnings and software innovations could influence Xiaomi’s future road-going EVs.

Players will soon be able to experience the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation consoles, offering a glimpse into a future where high-performance cars are defined as much by software intelligence as by raw speed.
