The new Hyundai Elexio will compete with the Tesla Model Y.
Hyundai Motor Company has begun exporting an electric vehicle developed specifically for China to foreign markets for the first time. This is the new Elexio electric crossover, which aims to directly compete with models from Tesla and BYD thanks to its extended range.
The Elexio is built on a 400-volt E-GMP architecture and features a single 160 kW electric motor on the front axle. Its key feature is the 88.1 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which provides up to 562 km of range according to the WLTP cycle. By comparison, the base Model Y has a range of approximately 466 km. Fast charging with a capacity of up to 150 kW allows the car to be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 38 minutes.

Particular attention has been paid to the digital architecture of the cabin. Inside, a panoramic 27-inch display integrates the multimedia system and control interfaces, along with a separate instrument panel. The electric car also features wireless charging for smartphones and advanced climate control functions.
Interestingly, the Elexio is Hyundai’s first electric car originally designed for the Chinese market and produced through a joint venture with BAIC Motor. The company is now using it to compete with Chinese brands in the global market.
