An energy storage system based on Tesla Megapack batteries has been commissioned in Ontario, Canada.
The 300 MW, 1,200 MWh facility, called the Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park, is the largest operating battery energy storage facility in Canada. It uses 334 Tesla Megapack 2XL units.
With the commissioning of the Hagersville Power Plant and the recently launched Sanjgon Battery Energy Storage project, Boralex’s total operating energy storage capacity has now reached 380 MW with 1,520 MWh of storage capacity, making Boralex the largest operator of energy storage systems in Canada.
The Hagersville project is SNGRDC’s second energy storage facility to enter commercial operation, with four more projects under development. Additional energy storage projects are being developed in partnership with SNGRDC and Boralex, including the 125 MW/500 MWh Oxford project, which is scheduled to begin construction soon.
