Bajaj Dominar 400 Update: Bajaj Auto is reportedly planning to introduce a new version of the Bajaj Dominar 400 with a smaller 349cc engine. The move is aimed at reducing the GST burden, which could make the motorcycle more affordable for buyers.
Currently, the Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc engine, which falls under a higher GST bracket of around 40%. By reducing the engine capacity to 349cc, the bike could fall under the lower 18% GST slab, potentially lowering its overall price.
Expected Price Advantage
The current Dominar 400 is priced at around ₹2.40 lakh (ex-showroom). While the official price of the 349cc version has not yet been announced, the reduction in GST could lead to a noticeable price drop, making it more accessible to buyers.
Name and Performance
Despite the change in engine capacity, Bajaj is expected to retain the “Dominar 400” nameplate to preserve brand identity.
The current 373.3cc engine produces 40 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. However, official performance figures for the upcoming 349cc version are yet to be revealed.
Features and Hardware
Apart from the engine change, the new Dominar is expected to remain largely unchanged in terms of features and hardware.
Key highlights include:
-
43 mm USD front forks
-
Multi-step adjustable monoshock with Nitrox at the rear
-
17-inch alloy wheels
-
Tubeless tyres (110/70 front, 150/60 rear)
For braking, the bike comes equipped with a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc, along with dual-channel ABS as standard.
