BYD Electric Cars: Global EV giant BYD is preparing to launch its new electric SUV, the Great Tang, in China in May this year. The SUV is already gaining attention for its impressive driving range of up to 950 km on a single charge. It will be offered in both fully electric (BEV) and hybrid (PHEV) variants.
The Great Tang is based on the Dynasty-D concept, which was showcased at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Let’s take a closer look at its key features and specifications.
Range and Performance
The biggest highlight of the BYD Great Tang is its exceptional range.
- BEV (Electric Variant):
The fully electric model is powered by BYD’s Blade Battery and supports fast charging technology.- Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): Offers a range of up to 950 km on a full charge. It comes with a 130.15 kWh battery pack paired with a 300 kW motor.
- All-Wheel Drive (AWD): Designed for performance, this variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and offers a range of around 850 km.
Hybrid (PHEV) Variants
BYD will also offer two plug-in hybrid versions:
- DM-i Variant:
Equipped with a 200 kW electric motor, it can travel up to 341 km in pure electric mode. - DM-p Variant:
A more powerful version with all-wheel drive (AWD), designed for better performance and driving dynamics.
