BYD New Car: With a claimed range of up to 950 km and advanced rear-wheel steering, BYD is preparing to launch its new flagship electric SUV in China.
BYD, one of the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturers, is set to introduce its most luxurious and technologically advanced SUV yet — the BYD Great Tang. The model has already started arriving at dealerships in China and is expected to go on sale soon. Alongside the fully electric version, BYD will also offer hybrid variants.
Size and Design
The BYD Great Tang measures over 17.4 feet in length and has a wheelbase of 123 inches, making it the largest SUV in the company’s lineup. It features a spacious three-row layout with seating for up to seven passengers, making it a practical option for large families.
Battery, Range, and Performance
BYD has equipped the Great Tang with its advanced Blade Battery technology, along with fast-charging support to reduce charging time significantly.
- Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): Powered by a large 130 kWh battery, this variant offers an impressive range of up to 950 km on a single charge.
- All-Wheel Drive (AWD): The more powerful version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. However, due to higher performance, the range drops slightly to around 850 km.
Hybrid Options
In addition to the fully electric models, BYD will also offer two plug-in hybrid variants:
- DM-i Variant: Focused on efficiency, it combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor and offers up to 340 km of electric-only range.
- DM-p Variant: A performance-oriented version with dual motors and all-wheel drive (AWD), delivering higher power output.
Features and Technology
The BYD Great Tang comes packed with advanced features designed to enhance driving comfort and convenience. One of its standout features is rear-wheel steering, which allows the rear wheels to turn along with the front wheels, improving maneuverability in tight spaces.
Additionally, the SUV is expected to offer air suspension for improved ride comfort, along with a host of modern tech and safety features.
