DS N°7 World Premiere: Massive Range Meets French Elegance
DS Automobiles continues to position itself as a niche yet premium brand with a loyal customer base. While it may not deliver high sales volumes, models like the newly unveiled DS N°7 SUV could significantly improve the brand’s visibility across Europe, including Germany.
In today’s automotive market, expressing individuality through a new car has become increasingly difficult. While classic cars still offer uniqueness, truly distinctive new models are rare. However, brands like DS Automobiles continue to challenge the mainstream with bold design and a unique identity.

A Stylish SUV with Strong Market Potential
DS models have often been criticized for the gap between pricing and perceived value, with some variants crossing €80,000. However, the new DS N°7 could strike a better balance, with expected starting prices just under €50,000.
Unlike premium sedans that struggle in today’s SUV-driven market, the DS N°7 has better chances of success thanks to its popular body style and striking design.
Exterior Design and Styling
The DS N°7 follows the brand’s modern design language, inspired by the DS N°8. The front features a distinctive illuminated grille, giving the SUV a strong road presence.
At the rear, signature LED taillights—referred to as “Light Blade” by DS—enhance both visual appeal and aerodynamic efficiency. The overall design reflects a refined and elegant French aesthetic.

Interior and Premium Feel
Inside, the DS N°7 stands out with a stylish and distinctive cabin layout. While it may not fully match traditional luxury brands in craftsmanship, it offers a unique and premium ambiance.
Materials like Alcantara and Nappa leather upholstery, along with brushed aluminum and wood trims, create a sophisticated environment. The floating central display and signature four-spoke steering wheel further enhance the futuristic design.
Engine Options and Performance
The DS N°7 offers a diverse powertrain lineup to cater to different customers. For those not ready to switch fully to electric, a hybrid variant is available.
This setup combines a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total of 145 hp. However, the fully electric versions are more appealing, offering power outputs ranging from 260 hp to 375 hp, with both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations available.
Battery, Range, and Charging
The electric DS N°7 comes with two battery options—approximately 74 kWh and 97 kWh. The larger battery enables a claimed range of up to 740 km, although real-world highway range may drop to around 480 km.
Charging performance is also competitive. Using a 400-volt system, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in around 27 minutes, thanks to a strong 160 kW charging plateau.
Additionally, the SUV supports plug-and-charge functionality, making the charging process seamless and convenient.
Ride Comfort and Technology
Comfort remains a core focus for DS Automobiles. The DS N°7 features electronically adjustable dampers that adapt to road conditions in real time.
A front-mounted camera scans the road ahead to optimize suspension response, enhancing ride quality. While it does not use advanced hydropneumatic suspension like older Citroën models, it still promises a highly comfortable driving experience.
Space and Practicality
Despite its compact dimensions—measuring 4.66 meters in length—the DS N°7 offers good interior space. Rear passengers benefit from decent legroom, although the wheelbase of 2.79 meters limits overall spaciousness.
Boot capacity starts at around 500 liters, making it practical for daily use. The SUV also offers features like acoustic glazing for improved cabin quietness and premium seating with ventilation, heating, and massage functions.

Driving Range and Efficiency
The electric version delivers impressive efficiency with a maximum range of up to 740 km. Meanwhile, the hybrid variant offers a driving range of around 1,000 km, making it suitable for long-distance travel.
The all-wheel-drive electric model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, although top speed is limited to 190 km/h.
A Unique SUV for Individualists
The DS N°7 proves that individuality is still possible in today’s automotive market. With its elegant design, strong range figures, and focus on comfort, it stands out in a crowded SUV segment.
Whether it succeeds in markets like Germany remains to be seen, but it certainly offers a refreshing alternative for buyers looking beyond mainstream options.
