Huawei announced that the updated Maextro S800 luxury sedan and flagship Aito M9 SUV will be the first vehicles in the world equipped with the highest-precision mass-produced LiDAR, focused on ultra-high resolution, ultra-high accuracy, and ultra-long range. Both models are also expected to feature Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5.0 advanced driver assistance system.
The LiDAR unit is the D5 Max model. Detailed technical specifications will be presented at the HIMA Technology Renewal Launch Conference on March 4 in China.
Typically, LiDAR systems with more channels and higher resolution provide greater point density, resulting in a more detailed 3D representation of the surrounding environment—crucial for autonomous driving applications.
As early as the end of January 2026, reports suggested that HIMA was planning to launch a LiDAR system with a resolution of 500 lines.
