Humanoid Robots Enter Auto Industry: Humanoid robots are rapidly becoming part of modern manufacturing, and Chinese auto giant SAIC Motor has taken a major step in this direction. The company has deployed its first humanoid robot, “Nenzai-1,” on a battery assembly line for the Buick Electra E7 hybrid crossover.
The robot is already actively working on the production line, assisting in battery assembly tasks that require precision and consistency. “Nenzai-1” was jointly developed by SAIC-GM—a partnership between SAIC Motor and General Motors—along with robotics company AgiBot.
The introduction of humanoid robots in factories reflects a growing trend across China’s industrial sector. Major companies like Xiaomi and CATL have also been experimenting with robotic systems in their manufacturing facilities. These developments suggest a shift toward more flexible, automated, and efficient production environments.
SAIC Motor, one of China’s largest automobile manufacturers, produces vehicles under multiple brands such as Roewe, MG, IM, Maxus, and Sunwin buses. The company also operates joint ventures with global automotive leaders like Volkswagen, further strengthening its position in the global market.
The deployment of humanoid robots like Nenzai-1 signals the future of manufacturing, where automation and artificial intelligence will play a central role in improving productivity, reducing human workload, and enhancing precision in complex industrial processes.
