Hyundai Palisade India Launch: Fortuner Rival with Hybrid Power & Premium Features

Hyundai is preparing to launch a new SUV in India. This upcoming SUV will compete with the Toyota Fortuner. The company’s new SUV is called the Hyundai Palisade. Let’s take a closer look at this upcoming model.

The Hyundai Palisade is already on sale in global markets and is expected to arrive in India by 2028. The company may introduce it with its next-generation hybrid system. Globally, it is also available with a 3.5-liter petrol V6 engine, although this option is unlikely to be offered in India.

Large SUV with strong road presence

Hyundai introduced the current-generation Palisade in late 2024. It is a large SUV with a strong road presence. The design includes a wide front grille with vertically stacked LED headlights and taillights, along with bold body cladding. Its overall styling looks premium, featuring clean lines, smooth surfaces, and a commanding SUV stance.

Interior with a modern and premium feel

Hyundai’s budget-friendly models are already known for being feature-rich, and the Palisade, as the flagship SUV, takes it a step further. The cabin offers a modern design and a premium feel. It is a three-row SUV that can seat up to eight passengers. Additionally, a more luxurious configuration with reclining captain seats in the second row will also be available, which is expected to come to India.

Equipped with advanced features and ADAS

The Palisade is expected to come with a dual-screen setup (two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, and a three-spoke steering wheel. It will also include physical controls for essential functions, a large front armrest, wireless charging, a digital key, a fingerprint sensor for engine start and valet mode, a rear camera cleaning system, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, a built-in dashcam, and ADAS features.

334 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque

The India-spec Palisade is expected to feature Hyundai’s next-generation hybrid system. This setup is likely to combine a 2.5-liter turbo-petrol engine with electric motors, delivering a total output of 334 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque. The claimed mileage is around 14.1 km/l, with a driving range of up to 1,015 km.

Ready to challenge the Toyota Fortuner

The Hyundai Palisade will rival the Toyota Fortuner. The Fortuner is available with a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine. The diesel variant produces 201 horsepower and 504 Nm of torque. Given Toyota’s strong reputation and the Fortuner’s popularity, it will be a tough challenge for Hyundai.
