Hyundai Exter Facelift Spied Again on Indian Roads
A lightly camouflaged test mule of the upcoming Hyundai Exter facelift has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads. The refreshed version of Hyundai’s entry-level micro-SUV is expected to arrive in the Indian market sometime in 2026.
Spy images of the updated model first surfaced earlier this year, indicating that the company has already begun testing the facelifted version. The upcoming update is expected to introduce minor exterior design changes along with some feature additions.
Design Updates Expected
The test car retains the signature H-shaped LED daytime running lights, which are mounted high on the front fascia. The square projector headlamps also appear to remain unchanged.
However, the front bumper may receive slight styling revisions, while the camouflaged grille looks taller and more upright than the current model.
At the rear, most design elements remain hidden under camouflage. Based on the visible parts, the tail lamps appear similar to the current version and continue with the H-shaped lighting signature. The facelift could also introduce a connecting light bar between the tail lamps, giving the SUV a more modern look.
Interior and Features
Spy shots do not reveal much about the cabin of the facelifted Exter. However, the overall layout is expected to remain largely the same.
Hyundai could update the feature list with additions such as:
-
A larger infotainment touchscreen
-
Expanded functions for the digital instrument cluster
-
Updated connected car technology
These changes would help the SUV remain competitive in the growing micro-SUV segment.
Engine and Powertrain
Mechanically, the facelifted model is unlikely to receive any major changes. It is expected to continue with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with manual and AMT gearbox options.
A factory-fitted CNG variant using Hyundai’s twin-cylinder technology will also likely remain part of the lineup.
Expected Launch and Rivals
The updated Hyundai Exter facelift is expected to launch in India later in 2026. The current model is priced between ₹5.64 lakh and ₹8.85 lakh (ex-showroom), and the facelifted version could carry a slightly higher price tag.
Once launched, it will continue to compete with models such as the Tata Punch and the Citroën C3 in the micro-SUV segment.
