Retail sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in India are expected to grow by 24.6% to 2.452 million units in fiscal year 2026, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
Many automobile manufacturers in India are now actively selling electric vehicles, and consumer adoption is steadily increasing. According to FADA, EV retail sales are projected to register strong double-digit growth across all segments, making FY2026 a milestone year for India’s electric mobility journey.
EV Sales in FY2026
Electric passenger vehicle sales are expected to reach approximately 199,923 units in FY2026, compared to 108,873 units in FY2025. This reflects an impressive growth of 83.63%.
Among manufacturers, Tata Motors leads the segment with 78,811 units, followed by JSW MG Motor India with 53,089 units and Mahindra & Mahindra with 42,721 units.
Electric Two-Wheeler Sales in FY2026
Electric two-wheeler sales reached 1,401,818 units in FY2026, up from 1,150,790 units in FY2025, marking a 21.81% increase.
TVS Motor Company leads this segment with 341,513 units. Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy follow in second and third place with 289,349 units and 239,178 units, respectively.
Three-Wheelers and Commercial EV Growth
Sales of electric three-wheelers are projected to reach 830,819 units in FY2026, an increase of 18.97% compared to 698,914 units in FY2025.
Electric commercial vehicles recorded the highest growth during this period, reaching 19,454 units in FY2026, up from 8,820 units in FY2025. This represents a remarkable growth of 120.57%.
