JSW MG Motor to Launch 3 New Electrified SUVs in India
After strengthening its presence in the Indian automobile market, JSW MG Motor India is now preparing for a major expansion in the electrified vehicle segment.
The company plans to launch three new electrified SUVs in India by next year. Some of these vehicles will be manufactured locally, while others will be imported as completely built units (CBUs).
The upcoming lineup includes the premium MG IM6, a new D-segment SUV codenamed MG 520, and a next-generation successor to the MG ZS EV.
MG IM6: Premium SUV-Coupe Expected in October
The first and most premium model expected to arrive is the MG IM6, which could launch in India around October 2026.
This model will be a D-segment SUV-coupe and is expected to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y in the premium electric SUV segment.
Range and Performance
Globally, the MG IM6 is available in two variants, including a single-motor and dual-motor version.
Key highlights include:
-
402 bhp power output in the single-motor variant
-
Driving range of up to 625 km
-
0–100 km/h acceleration in about 3.5 seconds
However, reports suggest that only the single-motor variant may be introduced in India. The vehicle is likely to be imported as a CBU and sold through the company’s MG Select premium dealerships.
New D-Segment SUV (MG 520) Coming Between October–December
JSW MG Motor India is also planning another major launch between October and December.
The company is preparing to introduce a locally manufactured D-segment SUV, currently codenamed MG 520.
This SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and will likely be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Powertrain Options
The upcoming model could be available in multiple electrified powertrain options:
-
Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)
-
Pure Electric
The PHEV version is expected to combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, providing better fuel efficiency and extended driving range for long journeys.
Next-Generation ZS EV Planned for 2027
In addition to these launches, MG is also working on a successor to the popular MG ZS EV, which could arrive in 2027.
The upcoming model is expected to be:
-
Larger than the current ZS EV
-
Built on the SIGMA platform
-
Offered with electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains
Experts believe this strategy could help MG strengthen its position in both the premium EV market and the mass-market electrified SUV segment in India.
