KTM has taken a major step forward in the supersport segment with the introduction of the all-new KTM RC 450. The bike marks a significant shift in the brand’s approach, especially in the sub-500cc category, by moving from its traditional single-cylinder setup to a more refined twin-cylinder configuration.

While reports suggest that the RC 450 has been launched in China, there is no official confirmation on KTM China’s website yet. However, the motorcycle itself is very real—and it signals a new direction for KTM’s global lineup. More importantly, it gives Indian enthusiasts a glimpse of what could soon arrive in the domestic market.

KTM RC 450 Engine and Performance: A Big Leap Forward

At the heart of the KTM RC 450 is a 449cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, developed in collaboration with CFMoto. This new engine setup is a major upgrade over KTM’s existing single-cylinder motors in the RC lineup.

The engine uses a 270-degree crankshaft, which is known for delivering a more engaging riding experience, improved traction, and a deeper exhaust note. Performance figures are impressive, with output reported at around 55–56 hp and 39 Nm of torque.

Currently, the KTM RC 390 dominates the entry-level supersport space for KTM in India. However, many riders eventually look for an upgrade that offers more power and refinement without jumping into expensive middleweight bikes.

If launched in India, the KTM RC 450 will directly compete with some strong contenders in the segment, including:
