Lada Azimut SUV Passes Extreme Tests Ahead of 2026 Launch

New Lada Azimut Ready for Russia’s Harsh Climate After Rigorous Testing. AvtoVAZ Lada Azimut: Features, Engine, and Testing Details Revealed. Lada Azimut SUV 2026: Extreme Weather Testing Completed Successfully.

Lada Azimut Ready for Production: The new Lada Azimut, developed by AvtoVAZ, is preparing for mass production and has successfully completed extensive testing.

According to the company, the crossover has demonstrated strong adaptability to Russia’s challenging road conditions and harsh climate.

Extreme Climate Testing Completed

The Lada Azimut underwent rigorous testing at advanced facilities equipped with modern climate chambers. These chambers simulate temperatures ranging from +60°C to -50°C, along with humidity levels between 25% and 95%.

Such testing ensures that the engine, electronics, and overall vehicle systems perform reliably even under extreme environmental conditions.

Focus on Durability and Corrosion Resistance

Special attention was given to the vehicle’s durability and resistance to corrosion. In salt chamber tests, the Azimut was exposed to high-pressure salt solutions, including the underbody and wheel arches, to simulate long-term wear and tear.

A rain chamber was also used to replicate various weather conditions. By tilting the vehicle on a platform, engineers tested the body’s sealing, water resistance, and overall durability.

Road Testing and Validation

The testing program also included accelerated road trials on a 10-kilometer test track, along with specialized proving ground sections. These tests confirmed the vehicle’s reliability, structural strength, and long-term performance.

All results indicate that the Lada Azimut is well-prepared for real-world usage across Russia’s diverse and demanding conditions.

Expected Features and Launch Details

The Lada Azimut is a compact crossover scheduled to launch in 2026. It is positioned as one of AvtoVAZ’s most advanced SUVs and is based on a modernized Lada Vesta platform.

The SUV will be offered with front-wheel drive and engine options ranging from 1.6-litre to 1.8-litre units.

Key expected features include:

  • Advanced digital infotainment with GigaChat and Sber services

  • All-LED lighting

  • 360-degree camera system

  • Powered tailgate

  • Panoramic roof

A more powerful plug-in hybrid all-wheel-drive variant is also expected, delivering up to 390 hp.
