Mahindra March 2026 Sales: SUVs Drive 21% Growth, FY2026 Ends on Record High

Mahindra SUV Sales Boom: 60,000+ Units Sold in March 2026, Strong FY Performance

Mahindra & Mahindra delivered an impressive performance in March 2026, closing the financial year on a high note with total vehicle sales of 99,969 units. This marks a strong 21% year-on-year growth, reflecting rising demand across both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The company’s consistent growth highlights changing consumer preferences in India’s automobile market, where SUVs are increasingly becoming the top choice for buyers.

A major driver of this growth was Mahindra’s Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment. The company sold 60,272 SUVs in the domestic market in March alone, registering a robust 25% increase compared to the same period last year. When exports are included, total SUV sales stood at 62,109 units. This surge clearly indicates the growing popularity of SUVs among Indian consumers, who prefer these vehicles for their strong road presence, higher seating position, and ability to handle diverse road conditions.

Popular models like Mahindra Scorpio-N, Mahindra XUV700, and Mahindra Thar have played a crucial role in driving this demand. These vehicles have built a strong reputation for performance, design, and off-road capabilities, making them highly attractive to both urban and rural buyers. As a result, Mahindra has successfully strengthened its position in India’s competitive SUV segment.

In addition to SUVs, Mahindra also recorded solid growth in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment. The company sold 24,928 commercial vehicles in India during March 2026, representing an 11% year-on-year increase. This category includes small trucks, pickup vehicles, and delivery vans, which are widely used for logistics and business operations. The steady growth in this segment reflects a healthy economic environment, with increased demand for goods transportation and business mobility.

Within the CV segment, light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in the 2 to 3.5-tonne category saw a notable 13% growth, while smaller vehicles maintained stable demand. One of the most significant highlights was the three-wheeler segment, including electric variants, which recorded a sharp 39% growth. This rise points toward increasing adoption of affordable and eco-friendly mobility solutions, especially in urban and semi-urban areas.

March 2026 not only marked a strong monthly performance but also helped Mahindra achieve record-breaking annual sales for FY2026. The company sold a total of 6,60,276 SUVs during the financial year, reflecting a 20% growth. Additionally, light commercial vehicle sales reached 2,89,597 units, up by 13%. These figures represent the highest-ever yearly sales in both categories for Mahindra, showcasing its strong market presence and effective product strategy.

Overall, Mahindra’s performance highlights key trends shaping the Indian automotive industry. SUVs are rapidly becoming the preferred choice for consumers, replacing traditional small cars in many segments. At the same time, the steady growth in commercial vehicles indicates strong business activity and a stable demand for transportation solutions.

Looking ahead, Mahindra is well-positioned to maintain this growth momentum. With a strong portfolio of SUVs, increasing focus on electric mobility, and a solid presence in the commercial vehicle space, the company is expected to remain a key player in India’s evolving auto market.
