Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a new compact SUV to further strengthen its SUV lineup; this vehicle will be based on the Vision S concept. This model is expected to launch in India around 2027 and will be positioned between the Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Mahindra Scorpio N. It will compete with the upcoming Renault Bridger and Kia Syros.
In terms of powertrains, the vehicle is expected to feature engines borrowed from the XUV 3XO, potentially including a 1.2-liter TGDi turbo-petrol unit (producing approximately 131 hp and 230 Nm) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (generating around 117 hp and 300 Nm). Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual, a torque converter automatic, and—for select diesel variants—an AMT.
Regarding design, test mules suggest that the vehicle’s styling will be inspired by the Mahindra Scorpio N, though it will be more compact in size. Design elements such as a boxy stance, thick pillars, an angular window line, flared wheel arches, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel are expected to be featured.
This SUV will be built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ unibody platform, a departure from the traditional ladder-frame architecture. This platform promises superior space management, reduced weight, and greater flexibility for future models.
As for features, the SUV is expected to offer premium amenities such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, and a rear armrest. Mid-range variants are likely to come equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster and other essential features.
Overall, this new SUV from Mahindra is set to arrive with a robust design, enhanced interior space, and high levels of practicality, making it a formidable contender within the mid-size SUV segment.
