Mercedes-Benz Faces Major Glitch, Recalls These 3 Models in India

Mercedes-Benz Recall: Mercedes-Benz India has recalled a total of 149 luxury cars, including CLE and AMG models, to fix a software issue found in the Emergency Stop Assist system.

Luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for some of its vehicles in India. The company has called back a total of 149 units. This step has been taken due to a software malfunction in the Emergency Stop Assist feature. If you own any of these models, you should immediately check your vehicle’s status. The company is offering a free software update to resolve the issue if required.

Which Models Are Affected?

According to the company, the recall does not apply to all vehicles but only to specific units. It includes certain units of the CLE Coupe manufactured between 2024 and 2025. Additionally, some units from the AMG CLE lineup produced in 2025 are also part of the recall list. A few AMG C-Class vehicles manufactured between October and November 2024 are also reported to be affected. In total, 149 units fall under this recall.

What Is the Issue With Emergency Stop Assist?

Emergency Stop Assist is an important safety feature. It activates when the driver fails to respond for any reason. The system monitors steering activity and, if the driver remains unresponsive, it can gradually bring the vehicle to a stop and even initiate an emergency call.

However, in the recalled vehicles, the software may fail to correctly detect driver inactivity. Because of this, the automatic braking and assistance system may not activate at the right time. That said, normal braking and driver control remain unaffected.

What Should Car Owners Do?

Owners of the affected models should contact their nearest authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership with their vehicle’s VIN number. The company will also reach out to impacted customers directly. A free software update will be provided to fix the issue.

Since this is a safety-related matter, it is important to get the update done as soon as possible. If you are planning to buy a second-hand Mercedes from these models, make sure to verify whether the recall update has been completed.
