Russia’s new orbital station is planned to be fully deployed by 2034.

Chief Designer Vladimir Kozhevnikov presented the timeline during the Roscosmos “Team of the Future” forum, held as part of Space Week 2026.

According to Kozhevnikov, who serves as Deputy General Designer at Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (part of Roscosmos) and Chief Designer of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), the station could become fully operational by 2034.

During his presentation, he outlined the phased development of the station, highlighting key milestones leading up to full deployment.

Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Bakanov previously stated in an interview with TASS that the first module of the ROS is scheduled for launch in 2028. He also stressed the importance of coordinating the completion of operations on the International Space Station (ISS) with the gradual deployment of the new Russian station.

In December 2025, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov confirmed that Russia had approved an orbital inclination of 51.6 degrees for the ROS—the same orbit currently used by the ISS.

TASS served as the official information partner of Space Week 2026.
