Tesla has launched the six-seat Model YL in eight new markets but is still not selling it domestically.

Tesla has officially opened orders for the Tesla Model YL, its six-seat, long-wheelbase electric SUV, in eight key Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The Tesla Model YL is a special extended version of the popular electric crossover, developed for the Chinese market and unveiled in 2025. It features a longer wheelbase, a third row of seats (six-seat configuration), and an increased driving range.

Notably, the Model YL remains unavailable in the US market, where demand for a longer Model Y is strong. However, CEO Elon Musk has stated that something “much cooler than a minivan” is currently in development for the US.

Industry insider Sawyer Merritt suggested that Musk could be referring to a new Tesla crossover. It was also previously reported that the next-generation Tesla Roadster, potentially featuring SpaceX-inspired technology, may be unveiled soon.
