Tesla Launches First V4 Supercharger on US East Coast with 500 kW Charging
Tesla has officially launched its first fully operational V4 Supercharger station on the US East Coast. The new fast-charging site is located in Kissimmee, Florida, just south of Orlando.
This marks a major step forward in Tesla’s charging infrastructure, as the company continues to expand high-speed charging capabilities for both its own vehicles and other electric cars.
A New Era of Ultra-Fast Charging
The Kissimmee station features eight charging stalls powered by a cutting-edge 1.2 MW V4 power system. Each charger can deliver up to 500 kW per vehicle, making it one of only a few fully operational V4 Supercharger sites in the United States.
This next-generation charging technology significantly reduces charging time, especially for compatible electric vehicles.
Charging Speed and Technology
The V4 Supercharger is designed to support ultra-fast charging with output levels reaching up to 500 kW. This makes it one of the most powerful public charging systems currently available.
The advanced power-sharing system ensures efficient energy distribution across all stalls, even during peak usage.
Pricing for Tesla Owners
Tesla owners benefit from more competitive pricing at the new station. During peak hours (8:00 a.m. to midnight), the charging cost is set at $0.40 per kWh.
During off-peak hours (midnight to 8:00 a.m.), the price drops significantly to $0.20 per kWh, encouraging users to charge during less busy periods.
Pricing for Non-Tesla EVs
Non-Tesla electric vehicle owners can also use the station, thanks to Tesla’s adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS).
However, pricing is higher for other brands. Charging costs $0.56 per kWh during peak hours and $0.28 per kWh during off-peak hours. This pricing strategy reflects Tesla’s approach of monetizing its charging network while still offering access to a wider EV audience.
Open Charging Network with NACS
The inclusion of NACS ports allows a growing number of non-Tesla EVs to access Tesla’s Supercharger network. This move is part of Tesla’s broader strategy to establish its charging standard as the industry norm in North America.
It also helps accelerate EV adoption by improving access to reliable fast-charging infrastructure.
A Strategic Expansion of Tesla’s Charging Network
With the launch of its first V4 Supercharger on the East Coast, Tesla is setting new benchmarks in charging speed and infrastructure.
The combination of ultra-fast charging, flexible pricing, and support for non-Tesla vehicles makes this station a significant milestone. As more V4 stations roll out, Tesla is likely to strengthen its position as a leader in EV charging technology.
