Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner: Toyota’s most popular SUV, the Fortuner, appears to be ready for a major facelift. The next-generation Fortuner was recently spotted testing on the roads of Thailand. It’s expected that this updated next-generation model will soon be launched in India.

Test mules of the new Fortuner spotted in Thailand reveal that its design could be inspired by Toyota’s latest Hilux pickup truck. The new SUV is expected to sport a more muscular and aggressive design. It could feature a larger grille, sharper headlamps, and an all-new hood. The rear will also feature sleek taillights and a new bumper.

Engine and Hybrid Technology
In terms of powertrain, the new Fortuner will continue to offer the existing 2.7-liter petrol and 2.8-liter diesel engine options. However, the biggest update will be the 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which was recently introduced in India. Furthermore, Toyota is developing a full-electric (EV) version for global markets and a fuel-cell (FCEV) version for select countries. In India, the main focus is expected to be on the mild-hybrid diesel and petrol units.

Interior and Features
The current Fortuner is often criticized for its lack of high-tech features and technology, but according to reports, the company is planning to completely change this in the next-gen model. The cabin of the new Fortuner is expected to feature a 12.3-inch fully digital driver display and an equally large touchscreen infotainment system. Premium materials will be used, and the interior will be made even more luxurious with improved connectivity features.

Safety and Smart Tech
In terms of safety, the new Fortuner will feature an updated version of Toyota Safety Sense, which includes several Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) features. It will also feature electric power steering, making cornering easier for the heavy vehicle. It will also feature over-the-air (OTA) software updates, ensuring the vehicle’s systems remain up-to-date.
