Triumph 350cc Bikes Coming Soon: Lower Prices, New Strategy to Beat GST Impact in India

Triumph 350cc motorcycle test prototype spotted in India

Triumph is preparing to revamp its 400cc motorcycle lineup in India, which could include new models with engines below 350cc. The main reason for this is the tax structure—bikes above 350cc are subject to a 40% GST, while those below that are taxed at 18%.

Instead of developing an entirely new engine, the company plans to modify the existing 399cc engine and bring it down to 350cc. This will reduce both costs and development time.

The new lineup is expected to be priced approximately ₹20,000–₹25,000 lower than the current models, making them more competitive in the entry-level premium segment. While there may be a slight decrease in power (approximately 34–35 hp), it won’t have much impact on everyday riding.

If this strategy is successful, brands like Bajaj and KTM may also readjust their 400cc models.
