The Volga company has firmly denied any connection with Chinese automaker Geely regarding its newly revived Russian brand. The clarification came from Tatiana Fadeeva, head of the brand and the Passenger Car Production division, during an interview with Autonews.
Speculation about a possible partnership began circulating after design drawings appeared online that closely resembled the Geely Monjaro crossover. At the time, neither company publicly addressed the rumors, fueling further discussion in the market.
Fadeeva explained that while developing the new brand, the company studied the practices of the top ten Chinese automakers that have proven successful in both domestic and global markets. However, she emphasized that the Volga project remains fully independent.
From a legal standpoint, the Volga brand is owned by the Passenger Car Production corporation and has no affiliation with the Gorky Automobile Plant.
The statement aims to put an end to speculation and reinforce Volga’s positioning as a standalone Russian automotive brand.
