Volkswagen Taigun Facelift 2026: Design, Features, Interior Upgrades and New 8-Speed Automatic Explained

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift 2026 is expected with updated styling, premium interior features and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. Read full details here.

The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift 2026 is expected to launch in the Indian market by mid-2026, and the updated SUV will come with several significant changes. Recent spy shots have revealed that the company is working to make this compact SUV more premium and competitive in terms of design, features, and technology. Notably, many of its updates will be similar to the Skoda Kushaq facelift, which was already introduced in January 2026.

In terms of design, the biggest change in the Taigun facelift will be seen in its front end. Compared to the current model, it will feature new, curvier, sharper headlamps with an eye-shaped design. Above these headlamps will be thicker and more prominent LED DRLs, giving the SUV a modern and attractive look. The grille section has also been revised, although it was camouflaged on the test mule. However, previously released images indicate that it could feature a full-wide LED light strip and an illuminated Volkswagen logo, adding a premium touch to the segment.

The front bumper has also been redesigned, with horizontal slats replacing the previous mesh pattern. This change gives the SUV a cleaner and more solid road presence. The side profile remains largely unchanged, maintaining its identity. However, new alloy wheels will be offered, likely with a blacked-out finish. Some variants may also feature dual-tone alloy wheels, further enhancing its sporty appeal.

The SUV’s side profile will retain elements like the current model’s sharp shoulder line, traditional door handles, roof rails, and shark fin antenna. All these features give it a rugged and practical SUV look.

The rear of the Taigun facelift will also see significant updates. The taillamps have been redesigned and now appear larger. They could be connected via a connected LED strip, giving the SUV a more modern and premium rear profile. Additionally, an illuminated Volkswagen badge could be added, creating a distinctive look at night. The rear bumper has also been updated to provide a smoother and more polished look.

Regarding the interior, clear photos of the cabin have not yet surfaced during testing, but it is expected to borrow several features from the Skoda Kushaq facelift. This means the Taigun facelift will now have a more premium and tech-loaded cabin. A panoramic sunroof could be standard across all variants, which could be a significant change in the segment.

In addition, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster (Digital Cockpit) and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with turn-by-turn navigation support could be provided. A Google-based AI companion app could also be included, improving connectivity and smart features.

Comfort could also see a significant upgrade. Features like powered and ventilated front seats, and even a rear seat massager, could make it a premium option in this segment.

The powertrain could also see a significant change. The Taigun facelift could feature a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine paired with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This would replace the current 6-speed automatic and provide a smoother driving experience. However, the 6-speed manual transmission will remain available.

The 1.0-liter engine produces approximately 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, which is sufficient for both city and highway use. Additionally, a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine will be available as an option, producing 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission, which is known for its improved performance and faster gear shifting.

Overall, the Volkswagen Taigun Facelift 2026 will emerge as a more premium, feature-rich, and technology-rich SUV. Design changes make it more modern, while interior upgrades enhance comfort and connectivity. A new 8-speed automatic transmission could further enhance the driving experience.

With all these updates, the Taigun facelift could further strengthen its position in the Indian market and give it a tough competition to rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
