Volkswagen is preparing to introduce several new products in the Indian market. Some of these will be completely new models, while others will be updated versions of existing products. This list also includes the lower-spec Tayron and the Taigun facelift.
Volkswagen cars have gained strong popularity among Indian customers. The company has already launched several models in India, including the Golf GTI and Tayron R-Line. Now, Volkswagen is planning to expand its portfolio further with multiple new launches. This strategy indicates that the company understands the Indian market well and is aiming to strengthen its position.
Let’s take a closer look at Volkswagen’s upcoming products.
Lower-spec Tayron
Currently, Volkswagen’s flagship SUV in India is the Tayron R-Line. This version represents the top-spec variant. The company is now planning to introduce a lower-spec, non-R-Line version of the Tayron in India.
While the R-Line variant is priced at around ₹47 lakh (ex-showroom), the lower-spec version is expected to be more affordable. It will likely use the same engine as the R-Line variant but may offer slightly lower power and torque. Some premium features available in the R-Line variant may also be omitted.
Golf GTI
Volkswagen launched the Golf GTI in India last year, bringing only 250 units initially, which sold out quickly. Due to the strong demand for this premium hatchback, the company is now planning to introduce a second batch.
The new batch of the Golf GTI is expected to arrive soon and, like the first batch, it will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It may include additional features not available earlier and could be priced slightly higher.
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 bhp and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Taigun Facelift
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift has been spotted testing multiple times. After the updates to the Skoda Kushaq, the Taigun facelift is also expected to launch soon, possibly as early as next month.
The updated model is likely to feature design changes such as a new front grille, updated headlights, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels, and refreshed taillights. Inside, it may get new features like a panoramic sunroof, rear seat massager, and other enhancements.
The Taigun facelift is expected to continue with the 1.0-liter TSI engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the 1.5-liter TSI engine with both a 7-speed DSG and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
