TVS Orbiter V1 Launched at ₹49,999: runs 86km on a single charge, Smart Features & Budget-Friendly Electric Scooter

TVS Orbiter V1 Review: Cheapest EV Scooter with Fast Charging and Smart Tech

This is TVS’s most affordable electric scooter, priced at ₹49,999, and it offers a claimed range of 86 km on a single charge.

TVS Motor Company has recently expanded its electric portfolio with the launch of the TVS Orbiter V1. Positioned as the brand’s most budget-friendly electric scooter, the Orbiter V1 still manages to offer a solid set of features and a practical urban riding package. Let’s take a closer look.

Battery and Range

The Orbiter V1 is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed IDC range of 86 km. This makes it suitable for daily city commutes where travel distances are typically shorter. However, for longer journeys, the range may feel limited, especially when compared to the larger-battery TVS Orbiter V2, which offers up to 158 km.

Charging Time

One of the key advantages of the smaller battery is faster charging. The Orbiter V1 can charge from 0 to 80% in just 2 hours and 20 minutes. This quick turnaround is ideal for users who need frequent top-ups during the day. In comparison, larger battery models generally take nearly twice as long to charge.

Features and Technology

Despite its affordable pricing, TVS hasn’t cut corners on features. The scooter comes with:

  • LCD digital instrument cluster

  • Mobile app connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation

  • Call and SMS alerts

  • Personalized notifications

  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates

It also includes advanced riding features such as Eco and Power modes, Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control, and Parking Assist (reverse mode)—features usually found in more premium electric scooters.

Safety and Connectivity

The Orbiter V1 focuses strongly on safety and smart connectivity. It offers:

  • Crash and fall alerts

  • Anti-theft alerts

  • Geo-fencing and time-fencing

The companion mobile app allows users to monitor battery status, odometer readings, and other key data remotely, making the scooter highly user-friendly and digitally connected.

Design and Practicality

The scooter features a 14-inch front wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel setup, enhancing stability on city roads. It also gets:

  • A long 845 mm flat seat

  • 34 litres of under-seat storage

This makes it practical for both family use and daily commuting, with ample space for helmets and small luggage.

Price Details

The TVS Orbiter V1 is priced at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom) under the PM e-Drive scheme with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Without BaaS, the price goes up to ₹84,500, which still remains competitive in the entry-level electric scooter segment.

The New Buying Option: BaaS Model

TVS has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model with the Orbiter V1, allowing customers to subscribe to the battery instead of purchasing it outright. Subscription plans start at ₹862 per month and include an extended warranty of up to 5 years or 70,000 km. This approach significantly lowers the initial cost and offers flexible ownership options.

Should You Buy the Orbiter V1?

If your usage is mostly within the city and you’re looking for an affordable, feature-rich, and quick-charging electric scooter, the Orbiter V1 is a strong option. However, for longer travel needs, a model with a larger battery pack may be a better choice.
