TVS Tangent RR Patent Filed, BMW-Based 450cc Apache Coming Soon

TVS Tangent RR Patent Filed: TVS Motor has filed a design patent for the Tangent RR concept, hinting at a new 450cc Apache sport bike based on BMW’s twin-cylinder platform.

TVS Motor Company appears to be moving closer to launching a new performance motorcycle, as the design patent for the Tangent RR has now been filed. The development strongly suggests that a production version of the concept sport bike could be on the horizon.

The Tangent RR concept was first showcased at EICMA last year, where it grabbed attention with its sharp and aggressive styling. With the latest patent filing, speculation is growing that the company may be preparing a new-generation Apache sport bike for the Indian market.

Recent spy activity has also hinted that TVS has been testing a new fully-faired motorcycle. Reports suggest the upcoming model could be built on BMW Motorrad’s new 450cc twin-cylinder platform and may borrow heavily from the Tangent RR’s design language.

The patent images reveal that the production model could retain much of the concept’s aggressive styling. The bike features a semi-faired layout, a distinctive front cowl, and a slim tail section that gives it a sporty and track-focused appearance.

Ergonomics also point toward a performance-oriented setup. The presence of clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs indicates a forward-leaning riding posture. Hardware details include upside-down (USD) front forks and a rear mono-shock suspension. The motorcycle rides on alloy wheels and comes equipped with disc brakes at both ends, with twin front rotors expected for stronger braking performance.

Powering the upcoming sport bike is likely to be the same 450cc parallel-twin engine seen on the BMW F 450 GS. The unit is rated at around 47 BHP and 43 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

If launched, this new model could significantly strengthen TVS’s presence in the premium sport bike segment and potentially introduce a new flagship under the Apache lineup.
