BMW 7 Series Facelift Debuts Globally with 8K Theatre Screen, 720 km EV Range

BMW unveils the updated 7 Series with crystal headlights, Panoramic iDrive, 8K rear screen, and up to 720 km electric range ahead of India launch.

BMW has officially revealed the updated BMW 7 Series, reinforcing its position as the brand’s flagship technology showcase. First introduced in 1977, the 7 Series continues to lead innovation, with the latest generation integrating features aligned with BMW’s New Class philosophy. The refreshed model is set for a global rollout starting July 2026, with an India launch expected by late 2026 or early 2027.

From a design standpoint, the updated sedan adopts a more striking visual identity. The front is dominated by an aluminized kidney grille paired with crystal-style LED headlights, while the side profile remains clean and elegant. At the rear, newly designed lighting elements enhance the premium look, giving the car a refined yet modern presence.

Inside, the cabin emphasizes craftsmanship and minimalism, combining premium materials such as leather, wood, metal, and glass. The highlight is the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system powered by Operating System X, along with a dedicated passenger display. Buyers can choose between M Sport and M Sport Pro packages, along with extensive personalization options including dual-tone paint finishes and wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches.

Rear-seat luxury is taken further with an advanced theatre screen capable of 8K streaming, transforming the back seat into an entertainment lounge. The sedan also features a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and executive lounge seating.

Powertrain options remain diverse, including mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid setup, and a fully electric version. The EV variant uses BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology with cylindrical battery cells, delivering a WLTP range of over 720 km. Intelligent energy management enables optimized route planning, adaptive energy recuperation, and efficient charging strategies.

Driving dynamics are enhanced by standard adaptive two-axle air suspension, while optional features such as Integral Active Steering and Advanced Chassis Control improve handling and stability. Under BMW’s Symbiotic Drive system, the car supports AI-assisted driving functions, including hands-free highway driving and navigation-assisted urban driving at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

Production of the updated 7 Series will take place at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany. In India, the current model is priced at approximately ₹1.83 crore (ex-showroom) and is available in 740i M Sport and 740d M Sport variants.
