Changan Automobile Launches Deepal G318 in Russia

Chinese automaker Changan Automobile has officially announced the start of sales for the Deepal G318 in the Russian market. The announcement was made on March 4, 2026, marking the debut of the Deepal sub-brand in the country.

The model will be sold through dealerships under the Changan Deepal brand name and represents the first Deepal product introduced in Russia.

Local Production at Avtotor Plant

The Deepal G318 is being assembled at the Avtotor factory located in Kaliningrad.

Currently, the SUV is produced using Complete Knock-Down (CKD) assembly technology. However, Changan plans to expand localization in the future by adding:

  • Body welding

  • Paint shop operations

directly at the Kaliningrad facility.

Full-Size SUV Comparable to Toyota Land Cruiser

The Deepal G318 is positioned as a full-size SUV and is comparable in size to the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Key dimensions include:

  • Length: 5.01 meters

  • Width: 1.985 meters

  • Wheelbase: 2.88 meters

The SUV features a monocoque body structure, designed to combine durability with improved ride comfort.

Powerful Hybrid AWD Powertrain

Russian buyers will get the hybrid all-wheel-drive version of the G318.

The powertrain combines:

  • 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine

  • Two electric motors

Together, the system produces a combined output of 439 horsepower.

Performance figures include:

  • 0–60 mph: 6.3 seconds

  • Combined driving range: up to 1,000 km

Battery and Electric Range

The SUV is equipped with a 35 kWh battery pack that supports fast charging.

Key charging and electric driving details include:

  • Charging time: 15 minutes to reach 80% capacity

  • Electric-only range: up to 190 km

This setup allows the G318 to operate efficiently in both hybrid and electric modes.

Designed for Harsh Winter Conditions

To suit the Russian climate, the Deepal G318 will come with a special winter package and support for 92-octane gasoline, which is commonly used in the region.

During test drives conducted by Russian journalists at a Chinese testing facility in temperatures below -30°C, the SUV reportedly demonstrated:

  • Smooth ride quality

  • Effective sound insulation

  • Well-calibrated electronic stability systems that intervene subtly to prevent skidding

Pricing Yet to Be Announced

Changan has not yet revealed the official Russian pricing or trim levels for the Deepal G318.

In China, the model is priced between 2 and 2.5 million rubles. However, prices in Russia are expected to be higher due to logistics costs and localization adjustments.

More details regarding the official configuration and pricing will likely be announced closer to the start of dealership deliveries.
